Cabin Weekend With Jill

My good friend Jill invited me to spend the weekend at her cabin in Crosslake. We left Friday night and came back Sunday evening.

One of her main reasons to go up was to get some fabulous pizza and ice cream; we all know how much I love both items so I was sold. That Friday night we hit up the pizza joint, Rafferty’s and got their house special: green peppers, sausage, pepperoni and black olives. One word: YUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUM!!!! We got a 14 inch and practically annihilated it. Totally worth the three hour drive.

While we were getting ready for bed, I noticed a bag of kitty litter and weird hairs all over our bedding. Talk about a mood killer…..we are both allergic to cats (her more) so we were not happy. We undid our bedding, replaced it with cleaner sheets and hoped for the best.

It was supposed to rain on Saturday so we decided to shop in Nisswa and Pequot Lakes. Fun stuff but mostly too expensive to buy! While in Nisswa, I saw one of their ox statues. A few years ago, Nisswa and other “up north” areas had artists and companies decorate a bunch of oxen, similar to the Snoopys you see around the cities.

As it turned out, the weather was nice the whole day, but it was evening by the time we got home so swimming was kinda out. We prolly coulda gone anyway, but we didn’t want to deal with the bugs. We also decided not to go swimming because Jill wasn’t sure if the lake had been treated and neither of us wanted chiggers–especially after the whole cat ordeal. Instead, we watched a few movies. And ate a super healthy dinner of chips and dip, carrots and dip and cookies.

Sunday was a pretty lazy day; we had brekky, ran back into town to check out Crosslake’s Chocolate Ox, a fabulous candy store. We’d been to the one in Nisswa, but since they’re all different Jill suggested we check this one out too. I wanted to bring some candy or fudge home for my mom and aunt as well as something for my guy, but nothing really caught my eye (sorry guys!!).

Despite the cats and the misery they’re causing us, we both had a good time. It was nice to get away and eat ourselves silly, another thing that’ll catch up with both of us next time we step on a scale 🙂

To check out some pics of our fun, go to: I think I’ll try to do more photos on flikr so I don’t run outta space on my blog here. Don’t worry though, I’ll always include a link!! And don’t worry about the whole “viewing with a guest pass” business either. It’s just an easier way to just share them with you guys and not the world.
